Hi food friends! My blog post this week is a little bit different from my usual posts. Rather than sharing an original recipe, I am highlighting some recipes from other blogs that I have personally tried and enjoyed. There are so many great low FODMAP recipes out there to try, here are a few of my favourites!
(Note: if you are looking for my recipes click here to see them all!)
#1 – Carrot Cake with Orange Lemon Icing
I made this carrot cake from A Little Bit Yummy for a special occasion with my boyfriend. We both loved it! He doesn’t have any food intolerances like me (lucky duck) but I think he enjoyed it just as much as a regular cake.
Alana has a lot of great recipes on her website. She is not a dietitian but she has all of her recipes and posts reviewed by a team of dietitians. I’m proud to be part of the dietitian team for A Little Bit Yummy!
#2 – Orange Walnut Granola
Next up is a delicious granola from Audrey at IBS Nutrition. Audrey is a fellow Canadian FODMAP dietitian and a friend, and she has lots of great vegetarian low FODMAP recipes on her blog. I recently tried this granola and was so impressed! She includes a second recipe for granola bars using the granola. I didn’t actually make the bars because I ate all of the granola up too fast! Next time I will have to try the bars too. I shared the granola with some friends and we used it to make some yogurt berry parfaits, super yummy!
(Note: I ran out of walnuts and added some pumpkin seeds to my granola)
#3 – Chocolate Fruit and Nuts Brownies
There is a definite trend for these recipes… they are mostly sweet recipes. I have a big sweet tooth and love my desserts! This chocolate fruit and nut brownie recipe from Joanna Baker APD at Everyday Nutrition was a great fudgy treat. Joanna is both a dietitian and nurse in Australia. She is very knowledgeable about digestive health and has lots of great recipes on her blog! If you have a chocolate craving and want a treat I highly recommend this recipe.
#4 – Roasted Red Pepper Dip
I first tried this roasted red pepper dip recipe back in January and I have been obsessed ever since! I love dipping crackers, veggies, toast and more in this delicious and nutritious dip. I buy red peppers when they are on sale and roast them myself to save money. I’m also lucky to have lots of fresh basil in my garden right now! Karlijn is a low FODMAP blogger located in the Netherlands. Her blog Karlijn’s Kitchen has tons of great low FODMAP recipes and beautiful food photography! So far this is my favourite of her recipes.
#5 – Coconut Creamed Rice with Stewed Rhubarb and Strawberries
The last recipe is another one from A Little Bit Yummy: Coconut Creamed Rice with Stewed Rhubarb and Strawberries. I’ll confess, I actually haven’t tried the coconut creamed rice part of this recipe yet. However I made a big batch of the stewed rhubarb and strawberries and I am in love! I use this sauce on top of oatmeal and yogurt. We had a ton of rhubarb in our garden this summer and it was such a great way to use it!
Bonus Recipe!
Okay, this one isn’t quite a recipe, but I thought I would include it anyways. I am a very lucky that FODMAPped for You sent me a bunch of their products to try out for free. I enjoyed all of their products, but for me, the highlight is their simmer sauces. They have: red curry, green curry, butter chicken and a sweet chili stir fry sauce. On the back of the packages are have recipes for how to use the sauces. My favourites were the butter chicken and the red curry (pictured below). Note: I was not compensated for writing this, I just wanted to share my opinion on the products.
For those of you in Australia, you are lucky that you can find these products in some grocery stores. Here in Canada we aren’t as lucky and these products haven’t hit our stores yet. We can get them through Amazon but they are pretty pricey. Hopefully, these products will make it to Canadian stores soon and have a lower price.
The End!
I hope you enjoyed this recipe review blog post! If you would like to see more of these types of posts in the future let me know on Facebook. If you are looking for my recipes, click here to see them all.
